Not Pressing Forward Will Leave You in Bondage
Breaking Free from the Comfort of Yesterday to Step Into the Promise of Tomorrow
Today, while talking with one of my friends, a thought hit me so strongly that I couldn’t shake it: not pressing forward will leave you in bondage. It was one of those moments where the conversation seemed ordinary on the surface, but in the middle of it, I could feel God highlighting a deeper truth.
The reality is, bondage doesn’t always look like chains and prison bars. Sometimes bondage looks like comfort zones that we refuse to leave. Sometimes it shows up in cycles we keep repeating, not because they’re helping us, but because they’re familiar. And sometimes, bondage is the quiet lie that whispers, “Not now, maybe later, you’re not ready yet.” The longer we listen to that voice, the more we unknowingly lock ourselves into a place we were never meant to stay.
Standing still feels safe. It feels like protection from risk, rejection, or failure. But the truth is, standing still is just another form of surrender to fear. The enemy doesn’t always have to trap you—if he can convince you not to move, you’ll trap yourself. Every time we choose hesitation over faith, we tighten the chains. The comfort of yesterday becomes the prison of today.
That’s why pressing forward is more than progress—it’s deliverance. Paul said in Philippians 3:13–14, “Forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Notice the word he used: straining. Pressing is not easy; it requires resistance. It takes intention. You don’t drift into freedom—you press your way into it. And every step forward is an act of spiritual warfare because every step forward is breaking something that once held you back.
As I sat with this thought, I felt a strong prophetic urgency: this is not the season to stay stuck. This is not the time to delay, waiting for everything to line up perfectly. This is the time to move, to step out, to press forward even when it doesn’t feel convenient. The Spirit of God is saying: “Move now. Press forward. Don’t settle for the cycle. Don’t stay in what’s familiar. Freedom is waiting for you on the other side of your press.”
So today, I declare over myself and over you that fear, delay, and hesitation will no longer have the final say. We will press forward. We will strain toward the mark. Chains are breaking. Cycles are ending. Freedom is being unlocked one step at a time. You are not a prisoner of what was—you are a pioneer of what’s ahead.
This is Just one of the THINGS IM FEELING!
